Hormone optimization requires an integrated approach

The Evexias team approach to female hormone optimization is evidence-based and does not involve experimentation or guessing.

We ascribe to a functional medicine model, which focuses on identifying and treating the root cause of each patient’s medical issues. After a proper diagnosis is made we strive to achieve hormone balance (or homeostasis) through a combination of hormone replacement with nutrition and gut health protocols where needed. While some women simply experience a natural decline in hormones, others may have difficulty metabolizing hormones or struggle with low thyroid, leaky gut, toxicity, vitamin deficiencies and other ailments.

Consequently, the practitioner may prescribe thyroid supplements, detoxification protocols, nutritional supplements, weight loss programs and other treatments in conjunction with bio-identical hormone replacement pellet therapy.

The Myers’ Cocktail is a vitamin and nutrient supplement delivered intravenously to treat a variety of ailments and increase energy. Developed by Baltimore physician John Myers, MD, more than 30 years ago, the Myers’ Cocktail protocol was recently modified by Alan R. Gaby, MD, and president of the American Holistic Medical Association.

The potent solution contains a specially balanced combination of vitamins and minerals, including:

  • Vitamin B complex 100
  • Vitamin C
  • Magnesium
  • Vitamin B5 (Dexpanthenol)
  • Calcium (Calcium gluconate)
  • Vitamin B12 (Hydroxocobalamin)
  • Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine Hydrochloride).

Depending on the type and severity of the condition being treated, additional nutrients may be added to the solution.

It is safe, effective and well tolerated by most people. There is a low risk of adverse side effects, though some patients experience a sensation of warmth or flushing (due to the rapid rise of magnesium) or a vitamin taste in their mouths following the infusion.

Treatment frequency and duration varies from patient to patient; however most people require one to two infusions weekly with many patients report significant healing after the fourth infusion.

People who take digoxin (Lanoxin®) or potassium-depleting drugs may not be good candidates for the Myers’ Cocktail. As with any medical treatment, be sure to provide your medical practitioner with a complete list of any medications or supplements you take so he or she can determine if this treatment is appropriate for you.

Depending on your individual needs, our medical team may recommend various nutritional supplements in your treatment plan which work in tandem with other wellness treatments.

Common supplements we recommend include:

ADK: A combination of Vitamins A, D3, and K2 to support bone and cardiovascular health

DIM: A supplement including the plant indole diindolylmethane to optimize the metabolism of estrogen and testosterone

Iodine: A nutrient to promote hormonal balance and whole body health

B Complex: A potent natural focus and energy enhancer that helps you stay sharp and give your body additional fuel

Probiotics: A combination of healthy bacteria and enzymes that help your digestion and metabolism

Omega Oils: Healthy fats your body uses to breakdown and transport nutrients throughout your system

IMPORTANT: Before taking any supplement, please consult your healthcare provider.

These supplements are recognized the world over for being powerful immune system activators. Taken individually, they help strengthen the body’s own ability to fight infections, disease, and illness. Taken together, the effectiveness and impact of each is multiplied. This is why we offer them as part of our primary Nutraceutical offering.

Vitamin C

Vitamin C is necessary for the proper functioning and health of the immune system. It is required for production of collagen and is an antioxidant. It also enhances the absorption of iron, B-12, Folic Acid, B-6,  and can even help curb the growth of cancer cells.

Fish Oil

Fish oil has a positive effect on thyroid function, arthritis, skin conditions, heart health, digestion, and inflammation. And that’s just a fraction of the list of things fish oil influences. It is one of the best sources of healthy fats your body needs to run optimally, and that’s why we make sure it’s in our magnificent seven supplement pack.

Vitamin D

Vitamin D is essential for the absorption of calcium. A person deficient in vitamin D absorbs too little calcium, even if the intake of calcium is high. It’s also important to note that we lose some of our ability to synthesize and absorb vitamin D as we age.

Did you know that synthetic vitamins lack the necessary trace minerals and must use the body’s own mineral reserves which may
lead to dangerous mineral deficiencies? Most of us are in dire need of minerals, sea salt being a great source. When the body is depleted of vitamins, minerals, enzymes and amino acids, it begins to weaken. This makes it susceptible to a host of diseases and loss of well being. Celtic Sea Salt has the best balance of naturally occurring minerals to help absorb all the nutrients your body needs. Himalayan salt is wonderful too.

Vitamin E

Vitamin E is actually a complex family of compounds made up of eight sub-fractions including four types of tocopherols and four
types of tocotrienols. Vitamin E has many true benefits for our body and we need to take a vitamin E supplement that is well balanced and high in all constituents–alpha, beta, gamma, and delta tocopherols. Natural Vitamin E in the alpha and gamma forms has been shown to inhibit lung and colon cancer cells, as well as prostate cells while inducing apoptosis (natural cell death) in prostate cancer cells.
People taking natural, balanced vitamin E have less cancer, less cardiovascular disease, less Alzheimer’s, and less age-related
macular degeneration, among other impressive benefits.

Probiotics are designed to use the right bacteria and elements already in your body to help you. Antibiotics are designed to kill as many strains of bacteria as possible. Taking probiotics adds life and vitality to your body, while antibiotics take, well, life and vitality from your body!

The benefits of enzymes are incredible and continually expanding. Unless our diet is pristine and our health is topping great, we should take some with every meal! In a body undergoing oxidative stress from a disease process or from a diet deficient in antioxidants, enzyme supplementation is even more important.
