Laser therapy

EVEXIAS taps into the power of laser technology via a variety of different lasers to help our patients look and feel their very best. Today, lasers can be used to perform a wide range of aesthetic treatments, from mild skin resurfacing to treating deep scars and acne to tattoo removal. Lasers can also be used for vaginal rejuvenation and to remove unwanted hair.

How does laser therapy work?

EVEXIAS has invested in several different lasers in order to meet our patients’ varied aesthetic needs. These lasers, from the industry leading manufacturer LUMENIS,® include the multi-purpose laser platform Stellar M22 (intense pulse light (IPL), OPT® Optimal Pulse Technology, Nd-YAG laser innovations, cooling technology and more) and the CO2 fractional lasers AcuPulseTM and FemTouchTM.

Depending on your goals, we may recommend one or a combination of laser rejuvenation treatments. For some patients, multiple sessions may be needed to obtain optimum results.

How do CO2 fractional lasers work?

Fractional carbon dioxide (CO2) lasers remove part of the thin outer layer of skin (epidermis), while heating the underlying layer of skin (dermis) to help stimulate the production of new collagen fibers. This technology uses unique, short pulses to reach the desired treatment depth quickly, which minimizes thermal damage.

How do Intense Pulse Light (IPL) lasers work?

Unlike the single wavelength of light found in traditional lasers, IPL lasers block most light wavelengths except those associated with pigment and blood vessels. This light energy is converted to heat energy, which essentially damages the pigmented skin (or melanin). The process triggers the skin’s repair mechanisms to remove the damaged tissue and enhance the skin’s appearance.

How do Nd-YAG lasers work?

EVEXIAS employs two forms of Nd-YAG (neodymium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet) non-ablative laser technologies. For targeted, deep penetration of vascular lesions and leg veins, we utilize the Multi-SpotTM Nd-YAG, which releases a series of sub-pulses that enable deeper penetration and longer overall pulse duration.

The rapid pulses delivered by the Q-Switched Nd-YAG laser work well for removing tattoos and treating pigmented skin because the laser targets and shatters the melanin or ink in the skin, without damaging surrounding skin and tissue. Compared to ablative Er-YAG lasers, non-ablative Nd-YAG lasers have been found to be equally effective, while providing shorter treatment and recovery times.

What’s the difference between ablative and non-ablative lasers?

Ablative lasers remove the top layer of skin (dermis) and heat the underlying layer of skin (epidermis) to promote collagen production. As the treated area heals, the skin appears smoother and tighter. Today’s advanced ablative lasers, like CO2 fractional lasers, were designed to produce dramatic results with shorter recovery times and minimal side effects compared to some ablative skin procedures. Patients with deeper scars (like acne scars), wrinkles, sun damage, aging skin, age spots and stretch marks may benefit from ablative laser treatments.

Non-ablative lasers are less invasive than ablative lasers because they heat underlying tissue while leaving the top layer of skin intact. Our registered nurses often recommend non-ablative lasers, like Nd-YAG lasers and those that use intense pulse light (IPL) technology, to treat a wide range of pigmentation issues, vascular lesions, acne and unwanted hair.

What type of laser therapy treatments are available at EVEXIAS?

The best laser therapy option for you depends on your unique goals. Our EVEXIAS registered nurses may recommend one or a combination of laser therapy treatments to address your health, aesthetic, and anti-aging concerns.

Lumenis AcuPulse CO2 fractional laser

An AcuPulse laser skin resurfacing procedure may be a good option for patients looking for dramatic improvements to skin texture and tone in a single session— with minimal downtime. AcuPulse may be used to address:

  • Signs of aging by improving skin laxity, texture and tone
  • Fine lines and brown age spots
  • Acne scars
  • Stretch marks and other scars

Intense Pulse Light (IPL)

Gentle and non-invasive, IPL laser treatments can be used to address a number of aesthetic concerns—with minimal downtime. IPL may be used to treat pigmentation issues and other aesthetic concerns, including:

  • Vascular lesions (veins, capillaries)
  • Skin redness
  • Age spots (through photo rejuvenation)
  • Acne bacteria (p.acnes)
  • Unwanted hair

ResurFXTM skin resurfacing

The only true fractional non-ablative laser technology in the market, ResurFX offers one-pass skin resurfacing, which reduces treatment time, while protecting the skin. ResurFX helps improve skin texture, providing smoother, more radiant skin.

PhotoFractionalTM combo treatment

A combination of IPL (intense pulse light) and ResurFX technologies, the PhotoFractional treatment is recommended for patients who seek improvement in both skin texture and tone.

Leg Veins

To minimize the appearance of leg veins and vascular lesions, our registered nurses may recommend treatment with the Multi-Spot Nd-YAG laser. This laser technology allows for deeper tissue penetration and overall longer pulse duration. The Multi-Spot laser also employs sequential pulsing and cooling technology between pulses to enhance patient comfort, while minimizing the risk of tissue damage.

Vaginal Rejuvenation

FemTouchTM CO2 fractional laser is a non-surgical, non-hormonal, minimally-invasive, laser vaginal rejuvenation treatment designed to restore vaginal health. This in-office, FDA-approved procedure triggers collagen production to stimulate the growth of healthy, new vaginal tissue. FemTouch may be used to:

  • Improve vaginal tightness, elasticity and tone.
  • Reduce vaginal dryness, itching and pain.
  • Lessen vaginal discomfort and pain during sex.
  • Enhance vaginal sensation during sex.
  • Reduce the risk of urinary tract infections.
  • Address issues of vaginal laxity typically related to childbirth.
  • Relieve symptoms of stress urinary incontinence including leaking (with cough, sneeze, laughter), frequency and urgency.
  • Correct irregular pigmentation on external vulvar tissues.
  • Find relief from lichen sclerosus.

Tattoo Removal

By utilizing Q-Switched Nd-YAG technology, our registered nurses can remove dark tattoos and pigmented lesions by safely targeting and shattering the ink or pigment underneath the skin. The Stellar M22 Nd-YAG laser’s “Top Hat” beamed profile helps enhance the safety and efficacy of this tattoo removal treatment.

Melasma

Brown or grayish-brown patches of skin can develop on the forehead, cheeks, nose and chin due to pregnancy, birth control pills, or sun exposure. While this condition often resolves on its own, some patients with melasma require treatment to remove skin patches. The Nd-YAG Q-Switched laser can be used to target pigmentation issues associated with melasma.
